Australia has long been fabulous for its beaches and sunshine, however today it’s the continents designer creativity that is increasingly drawing eyes.
There is no question that Halcyon House has become one of Australia’s most unique boutique hotels with Australian interior designer Anna Spiro individually decorating each of the hotels 21 rooms with quirky, retro nautical vibes and antique furnishings.
Almost as unique as the decor is the Halcyon story. Halcyon House used to be the ‘Cabarita Hideaway motel’ NSW, with Elisha Bickle and her sister Siobhan buying the run down motel and transforming it into a luxury 21 room boutique property named Halcyon House.
“Our vision was to create something that was completely different to what was currently being offered in Australia, a boutique hotel with a low key Australian feel,” says Elisha.
Halcyon House is located at Cabarita Beach, on the north coast of New South Wales (NSW). The destination is half way between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay and a 1.5hr drive down from Brisbane in Queensland. The hotel features the hatted award winning Restaurant Paper Daisy, an on-site day spa, 21 individually designed rooms and direct beach access. The hotel was recently awarded the Condé Nast Traveller ‘Hot List’ Award and winner of the Best Smith Hotel Of The Year in the coveted international Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Awards.
