Best Small Luxury Escape in NSW Australia

Halcyon House, former surf motel turned luxury boutique hotel by Australian sisters Siobhan and Elisha Bickle was one of the countries best kept secrets until the accolades and awards starting rolling in. Winner of Mr and Mrs Smith’s Hotel of the Year, Condé Nast Traveller ‘Hot List’ Award, and several awards for the hotels hatted Restaurant Paper Daisy, the hotel is now so popular and ‘instagrammable’ that Halcyon House has reached Instagram fame as the ‘Halcyon Hang’.

Halcyon House interiors were designed by highly coveted Australian designer Anna Spiro along with  Sydney-based architect Virginia Kerridge. Each of the 21 small luxury hotel rooms are eclectic and feature groupings of vintage art, seascapes, mirrors and beachside paraphernalia. No two rooms are the same with the textiles, antiques, art and furnishings all sourced from all over the world.

“A luxury hotel which pairs the beauty of location, with relaxed understated elegance and intuitive service. The accolades in our first year of opening doors are testament to the team holding true and achieving this vision.” Siobhan Bickle.

Halcyon House is located at Cabarita Beach, on the north coast of New South Wales (NSW). The destination is half way between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay and a 1.5hr drive down from Brisbane in Queensland. With a prime position on the beachfront, at Halcyon House you can enjoy private surf lessons with Australian pro surfer Joel Parkinson, relaxed poolside meals at the hotel’s hatted restaurant Paper Daisy and day trips in Halcyon’s Audi A1 to explore the surrounding regions.
