Afternoon Hour When Sun Falls Like Honey (2024) at Halcyon House
Halcyon House is proud to present ‘Afternoon Hour When Sun Falls Like Honey, a new series by renowned artist and Archibald Prize Finalist Eliza Gosse. Fresh from a sell-out show at Olsen Gallery, Eliza will preview her latest work on the walls of our Hatted restaurant, Paper Daisy for a special ‘in conversation’ event. Having recently completed our Artist in Residence program, Eliza’s collection has been inspired by the breezy, quintessentially Aussie beach surrounds of Cabarita Beach, capturing the nostalgia and charm of a golden Summer afternoon.
The exhibition opens at Halcyon House on 12th October, with a special ticketed ‘Artist in Conversation’ 3-course lunch at Paper Daisy restaurant, hosted by Alison Kubler, Editor of VAULT magazine. This event offers an intimate opportunity to explore Eliza’s creative process and gain insight into the stories behind her evocative works, all while enjoying a scrumptious seaside lunch in the heart of Cabarita Beach.
About Eliza Gosse
‘Eliza Gosse captures a sense of colour and play through her exploration of interiors and exteriors of the past in her distinctive imagery. Her work evokes nostalgia, celebrating the optimism and flair of post-war and mid-century design. Gosse creates pared back images that are not so much a depiction as an evocation of an era or place and the people who may once have lived there. Her use of a soft, muted colour palette and playful titles pulled from pop culture add a touch of sentimentality, inviting viewers to imagine the stories that might be held within the walls.’ OLSEN Gallery
